When In Doubt, Write It Down

If you're feeling unsure if unschooling is working...

and you REALLY don't want to be wrong and mess up your kid's education...

I think that's a fear we all have, no matter what method we're using.

Here's what I did to make myself feel better about unschooling: I started writing things down.

At the end of the day, I wrote down what we did - and what academic subjects we covered during that time. For example:

  • watered the garden - science (biology, botany, gravity/physics); math (measurement, estimation); language arts (vocabulary)

  • drove to the store - history (conversation about past presidents); science (geography, directions, map reading, topography)

  • grocery shopping - life skills (planning, budgeting, social behavior); science (healthy eating, nutrition)

You will be amazed at how much gets covered in a single day!
