Have a reluctant writer and prefer a more unschooling-ish approach?
Work it into the day-to-day, and believe the process of when it's important to them, they'll be ready to learn how.
Here are a few ideas to get a reluctant writer writing (or in some cases working on one piece of the writing process at a time):
write notes to each other
have your child make lists
play typing games
get a pen-pal (regular mail or email)
have them dictate to you what they want to say
roller coaster writing (set a timer and let the ideas flow but ONLY for 2 min or 5 min, whatever you decide)
tell a story with pictures
tell a story by acting it out (no words!)
have them create a treasure map or scavenger hunt
make sticky-note labels for everything in the house (the more silly the better!)
teach someone else how to write
