Our Classroom Is The World

We prioritize travel for our family.

It's always been a cornerstone to our homeschooling philosophy, and I've never regretted that decision.

It has meant going without many things to fund these adventures:

  • I make meals from scratch - every meal, even when takeout is SO tempting, because it's cheaper (and healthier)

  • Clothes come from secondhand or discount stores

  • No Starbucks, convenience stores, or beauty salons

  • Most significantly, we live in a very small, 1 bedroom guest house

But at ages 9 and 7, our boys have seen about a third of the US and 10 different countries.

And the profound wealth of knowledge and memories they've gained from those adventures has more than made up for any temporary perk of material items we've gone without.

There's a big, beautiful world out there, and we intend to explore it all!

I encourage you to do what you can to EXPLORE different places, different cultures, different ways of living with your kids, even if it's just a day trip to a place you've never been before. It's adventure, discovery, and education on a different perspective of living, all rolled into one beautiful package!
